Missionettes is a discipleship program based on the Titus 2 principle of women mentoring girls. Girls can begin at age three and continue until they graduate from high school. The program is designed to teach and encourage girls to develop their God-given gifts and abilities.

We feed all who come to church on Wednesday night at 6:30.  After, we have a song service and then we break up into groups.

chorus-Every day in every way, I will boldly live for Christ! When my faith is tested I will stand. I will stand upon His promises to take care of me.  In my trials I see I am made strong. Jesus, You are there to guide me if I stay by Your side where I belong.
v2-Independence can feel, oh, so good; but to whom much is given, much will also be required. Lord, You’ve been so good to me, a humble heart I bring. Now, Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Don’t depend just on yourself. In all your ways acknowledge Him!

A Note from Cheryl Wolverton, Missionette Coordinator

What a headache!  Tonight I had to put up with a woman who was furious with me because I did something she didn't care for (well that's a first!--I wish!) and two weeks ago was cussed out by another woman for allowing a child off the bus to go get his niece and on and on it goes.  Boy, life of the coordinator is a pain--okay well, not really.

However, the above are just a few of the weekly problems a coordinator faces.  Some nights I'd love to go home discouraged, down and just quit.  But, I don't.  Do you wonder why?  I mean, on Wednesdays our service doesn't start until 6:30 but I am often up there at 1pm, working on the classrooms, spending time in prayer--you name it.  And I don't get home until after 9:30 at night.

It's easy.  Look at the pictures above.  When God calls you to a ministry, it doesn't matter what bad that might come along--and of course it will, we live in this world--but we are not of this world, and God has a way of reminding us just how much we love working for Him.  It's in every one of those faces above.  Danielle, who loves to sing and just graduated to Youth, the young 8 year old who loves sign language and is always begging me to teach them 'another song'.  The hugs from the Rainbows, the 'hey' and 'what's up' from the Friends.  The fun we have singing and laughing and sometimes even crying together--or for them when you hear the heartachingly painful stories they share.

It can be hard work, especially when people get too busy to show up for a meeting and you have spent hours even days trying to get stuff together for it, but then you have to step back and say, "What is really important here?"

The answer always goes back to, The Kids.  Spreading the Good News of Jesus to these kids, Giving them a safe haven where they can feel love and accepted.  It means sharing something they may never hear again and giving of your heart as a mom would to one of her kids, pausing to wipe a snotty nose, tie a shoe, discipline an unruly kid and hug a down one.  It means giving them Christ.

And that's what we try every week at New Life Assembly of God.  The catch phrase is "We'll love you to Life" and we do try to.  We're upwards of 70 kids now.  We teach sign language, go on field trips to places like Quanah Parker's house (A Famous Indian for those who don't know), Pizza parties, swim parties, movie nights.  But we tie it all back into God, because, after all, how can you do anything without including God in it?

I am a published author of close to 20 novels, world wide--but the most fulfillment I get is when I walk into church on Wednesday night, slip on my vest and say, okay God, 'let 'er rip'.

So please know that your kids are loved and are special to us--every one of them; none are unloveable or too much trouble.  Send them on and know that we love being with them every week at New Life. And if you ever have any questions, or...*wincing* complaints! <G>, please feel free to email me at:  missionettes@newlifecache.com
